Weekend recap

While our neighbors and friends were out camping, hiking, swimming, exploring and BBQ-ing. The Hare family was up to something different this weekend.

Nothing.

We spent 3 days at home doing absolutely nothing.

And let me tell you- IT. WAS. GLORIOUS!

It was the first weekend in at least a month or 2 where were were not only both home but we didn't have some kind of event or function to be at. At first we felt bad thinking we should take advantage of the 3 day weekend and go DO something. That lasted like 4 minutes.

We cleaned the house. I love a clean house. And I have a super helpful hubby so it literally only takes us a couple hours and we're doneski!

We slept in til 8 am.

We made it to church. I think our little church thought we had moved.

We baked a cake. With chocolate frosting.

We watched movies together.

We went for a walk. Our neighborhood is awesome for walks.

We made pancakes for breakfast.

We laughed. A lot.

It's funny because here in Oregon when Memorial Days, Labor Days, and 4th of July's come around, the RV's and campers come out of their RV/camper storage places and line the streets. People pack up their goodies and head out to the coast, or the mountains for a weekend of adventure. We discovered that we just aren't the outdoorsy kind of people and no amount of wishing is going to transform us into outdoorsy people.

Maybe it's because we both grew up where summer = sweltering heat, but none of the above mentioned holidays are the same to me with out a BBQ and a swimming pool and this part of Oregon is never really swimming pool friendly. We're more the golf and tennis club kind of folks minus the assumed pretentious snottiness that comes with the country club label. I'm still going to attempt a hike and a few other new "out of my comfort zone" things while we're here, but I'm letting go of the idea that I have to like it or fall in love with it.  I'm sure to many, kicking it in a pool or taking a tennis lesson sounds like utter torture. :)

And I finally finished my home visit/ restaurant tour (don't judge!) post which you will see toooo-morrow, tomorrow, it's only a day aaawaaaaayyyyyy!

  1. i think your weekend sounds fantastic! i also think i ate myself into a coma. it was super hot this weekend and humid. it was one of those weekends where you would rather stay inside, unless you have a pool. i might just dig a hole and fill it with water.
